New Life Chapters
I fell off the running train around the same time that we adopted our pup Winston last year from a rescue called Pup Culture in Pasadena (recommend). He has been the first puppy I’ve ever managed as an adult and I learned:
Puppies are a lot of work
Puppies are constantly trying to kill themselves
Between work, puppy, and seasonal depression hitting me after my hip impingement returned, I didn’t feel like running. Like, ever. So, I picked up power tools and started renovating our house.
Fast forward several months and one nasty upper respiratory infection later: I’m missing running. Like, a lot. So much that I updated my mileage goals and this website and am gonna start running and lifting again. No more moping around and cosplaying as a contractor instead of cardio. (I’ll still be cosplaying, just not as a substitute hobby).
Of course it’s already beginning to get hot as hell here in LA, so this is not the best time to pick running back up. Here we are, though.
Completely unrelated but also very related, recession music is back. Like, we are so back. If you don’t know: music kind of gets better when the economy is kind of not great and people are feeling the squeeze. It’s a studied thing.
If you’re into that kind of thing - I created a playlist of absolute jams that are all pretty new (except for the sendoff first track and some bass towards the end). Check it out. I’m definitely listening to this on Saturday long runs.

Shoutout to Chris for this kind compliment.
Shoutout to whatever cold is going around for so thoroughly knocking me out that I felt only like bed rotting and building playlists for the last few weekends.
Shoutout to Tom for the tomato soup when I was feeling nostalgic.
